Immigrant Voting Rights Campaigns
Since 2004, the D.C. City Council considered several bills granting voting rights to immigrants in local elections, in 2022, they passed a law enfranchising an estimated 50,000 residents.
Implementation of the law began in 2024. A federal court upheld the law, dismissing a lawsuit filed in 2023.
